Wolfgang Bauer
Wolfgang Bauer splits his time between Los Angeles, New York and Vienna. He is a MFA candidate at Otis College of Fine Arts and Design in Los Angeles California and a 2006 graduate of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he received his BA in Gender Studies and Fine Arts. Previous to studying in the United States, Wolfgang also attended the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, Austria and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.
Wolfgang's practice includes painting, drawing, assemblage pieces, creative writing and poetry, with pieces that are semi-autobiographical, dealing with his experiences growing up in a conservative, patriarchal environment in Vienna, Austria. The works examine how cultural meaning it is constructed and expressed through representations of class, gender and race. Wolfgang draws inspiration from post modern writings as well as classic and contemporary, American and European literature. Wolfgang's works are in various private collections all over the world.
